What types of platform lifts are there?

There are two main types of platform lift –

  • Vertical Platform Lifts (VPLs): Travel straight up and down, similar to a small elevator.
  • Inclined Platform Lifts (IPLs): Travel along a staircase or sloped (inclined) path and are often used where ramps are either too steep or space is tight and lifts or ramps are not an option.

Where can platform lifts be installed?

Platform lifts can be installed both indoors and outdoors. We install them in private homes, schools, theatres, aged care facilities and commercial spaces—anywhere safe, step-free access is needed.

Are platform lifts suitable for homes?

Yes! Platform lifts are an excellent solution for people who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility at home. They allow safe, independent access between levels without the need for major renovations.

How much weight can a platform lift carry?

Our platform lifts have capacities ranging from 250 kg to 340 kg, depending on the model. This comfortably accommodates most users along with their wheelchair or mobility device.

Do platform lifts require a machine room?

No. All our platform lifts are self-contained and do not require a separate machine room, making them easier and more space-efficient to install.

Are platform lifts safe?

Absolutely. All of our platform lifts comply with SafeWork SA and are ASME A18.1 and NCC E3.6 standards. They include important safety features like emergency stop buttons, non-slip platforms, safety arms and constant pressure controls to ensure smooth, secure operation.

Can platform lifts be used outdoors?

Yes. Several models, like the Savaria Multilift, are designed for outdoor use and built to withstand weather conditions, including rain and heat.

Can I use NDIS or Home Care Package funding?

We work with NDIS participants plan managers, and aged care providers to supply fully compliant quotes and lift solutions to eligible NDIS or Home Care recipients with the relevant funding.

How long does it take to install a platform lift?

Installation times vary depending on the model and site and can take anywhere from 1–2 days to a week. Our friendly team will always provide a clear timeline upfront and keep you informed every step of the way.
